A case study of conflict resolution, the example of the Baban Raffi Project, South-Central Niger
Abstract
The forest, which lies along the frontier with Nigeria, represents one of the few remaining wooded areas in the country but is experiencing increasing degradation due to a strong population pressure. The aim of the Baban Raffi Project (BRP) is to assist in the diversification of local livelihood security strategies in the communities adjacent to the forest in order to reduce dependence on forest resources. Resolution of conflicts over natural resources is one of the original project goals.
