The fast-growing Latino student population constitutes the largest racial or ethnic group in U.S. public schools after the white student population. And while academic achievement for Latino students has increased over time, key measures indicate that they still lag behind their white peers. Using the best available national data on Latino student achievement and attainment, both in K-12 and in postsecondary education, this report points out improved achievement among Latino students and stresses the need to do even more.
