The Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation at Virginia Tech is working on a study of the medicinal plant trade as part of a larger effort to provide research and extension services for non-timber forest products. In 2014 we sent out a confidential, voluntary questionnaire to ginseng dealers on the other products they may have purchased in 2013. Our goal is to be able to estimate the annual output of some of the more commonly traded medicinal forest products and be able to see how production is distributed throughout the region.en
