Reggae sensation Matisyahu to perform in Blacksburg

BLACKSBURG, Va., Oct. 13, 2005 – Hot off a nation-wide tour that included New York and Los Angeles, reggae sensation Matisyahu will headline at the Lyric Theatre at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1. His breakthrough album 'Live at Stubb's’ is currently the #4 album on the Billboard Reggae chart.

After the concert, Matisyahu will join Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff and the community to share his story and engage the audience in dialogue about his Jewish and music experience.

According to the August issue of Paper Magazine, "Matisyahu ... is dazzling Jewish and non-Jewish audiences alike with his unique fusion of hip-hop, reggae, and jam-band music."

Matisyahu’s performance is sponsored by several Virginia Tech partners and the community, including Hillel at Virginia Tech, University Union and Student Activities, the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, Malcolm and Diane Rosenberg Program of Judaic Studies, the College of Engineering, the John E. Marek Holocaust Education Fund of the New River Valley Foundation, and the Blacksburg Jewish Community Center.
