Board of Visitors to meet Aug. 30-31

BLACKSBURG, Va., Aug. 26, 2009 – The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, in the Board Room of Torgersen Hall (Room 2100) on the Blacksburg campus.

On Sunday, Aug. 30, the full board will meet in open session for a general information session from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Solitude Conference Room at the Inn at Virginia Tech. Later that afternoon, the Research Committee will meet in open session from 4:15 to 6 p.m., in the Smithfield Conference Room at the Inn at Virginia Tech.

The following committee sessions will be held on Monday, Aug. 31 (meetings will be at The Inn at Virginia Tech unless otherwise noted):

Among other items, the board will preview and/or review several capital design projects, including those for the Davidson Hall renovation project, a new human and agricultural biosciences building, the signature engineering building, and a new academic and student affairs building. Presentations and updates, including those on the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute, the Fralin Life Science Institute, and the Virginia Tech – Wake Forest School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences, will also be given.
