Educator, consultant Steve Gladis to speak at 2010 National Capital Region commencement

NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION, April 13, 2010 – Steve Gladis, president and CEO of Steve Gladis Communications, will address the 2010 graduates of the Virginia Tech National Capital Region during commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 16, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Fairview Park Marriott Hotel in Falls Church, Va.

Approximately 400 National Capital Region students are expected to complete their degree requirements and participate in commencement ceremonies.

As president and CEO of Steve Gladis Communications, Gladis heads a leadership development firm focused on helping leaders achieve both success and significance through executive coaching, training and development, and motivational speaking. He also teaches a leadership communication series to first-line and mid-level leaders at George Mason University.

A former member of the University of Virginia's faculty, Gladis served as an associate dean in the School of Professional Studies and the director of the university's Northern Virginia Center. In a previous career as an FBI special agent, he held a number of both headquarters and field-agent assignments around the country

Gladis serves on the executive board of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and the board of directors for the Northern Virginia Community Foundation, serves on the School of Professional Studies Advisory Board at the University of Virginia, and is chairman emeritus of the Board of Trustees of the Washington Math Science Technology Public Charter High School. He is also a former U.S. Marine Corps officer and a Vietnam veteran.

He received his master’s and doctorate degrees from George Mason University.
