Virginia Tech Police seek assistance on investigation

BLACKSBURG, Va., Jan. 18, 2010 – The Virginia Tech Police Department is investigating an incident that took place today in the area near the greenhouses located on Washington Street.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a Virginia Tech student reported they were driving west on Washington Street, just past the roundabout intersection with West Campus Drive, when an unidentified man approached the vehicle and attempted to gain entry on the passenger side. After the suspect was unable to enter the vehicle, he walked south towards McComas Hall. The victim was not harmed and there was no damage to the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid twenties, approximately six feet tall with a skinny build. The suspect’s hair was described as dirty blonde and cut in a “buzz” style. He was wearing a plain black hoodie and blue jeans at the time of the incident. The suspect made no attempt to cover his face.

The motive for the suspect’s attempt to enter the vehicle is unknown and the incident remains under investigation.

Virginia Tech Police are requesting assistance from any persons who may have witnessed the incident or have further information.
