BLACKSBURG, Va., May 11, 2010 – The Rev. Lisa Maria Tabor, 35, of St. Albans, W.Va., passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday, May 7, 2010.

Tabor is survived by her loving parents, William and Louise Tabor and her brothers, DeAngelo and Adrian, as well as several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Tabor received her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, her master's degree in English, and, just last week, her Ph.D. in public administration from Virginia Tech and was elected for elder's ordination in the Second Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church.

The family of the late Reverend Dr. Lisa Tabor wishes to acknowledge our appreciation for the kind acts of support during Lisa's illness and later during our time of bereavement. The love, concern, care, and support you have shown our daughter and our family has truly been a blessing. Thank you to the Governor, State of Virginia, The Virginia Tech Family, and the community at-large for help when needed, prayers, cards, gifts, letters, flowers, donations, food and hospitality. It is for all of which we are very grateful.
