BLACKSBURG, Va., Oct. 1, 2010 – Janet Q. Sanders, of Willis, Va., has been appointed assistant dean for finance and administration in Virginia Tech's College of Science.

Sanders, formerly director of finance and business affairs in the college, came to Virginia Tech in 1973 and previously held positions as business manager in the college’s dean’s office as well as the Department of Physics. She will be responsible for all facets of the financial and administrative matters and will serve as the chief financial officer for the college. She will take part in policy decisions and oversee compliance with existing ones.

Sanders received a bachelor’s degree in organizational management and development from Bluefield College and a master of business administration from Baker College. Her experience includes planning, implementing, and guiding policies in different aspects of finance and human resources.

The College of Science at Virginia Tech gives students a comprehensive foundation in the scientific method.
