World Renowned Feng Shui Consultant To Visit Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va., March 4, 2003 – Angi Ma Wong, renowned feng shui consultant and entrepreneurial publisher, will visit Virginia Tech as part of the University Distinguished Speaker Series, March 14-18.

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy directed at organizing homes and offices to promote health, happiness, and success. "The art of feng shui cultivates harmony and balance and can enhance the results of other practices," Wong said.

Although its origins date back to the 4th century B.C., feng shui has recently become a popular design trend and conversation topic. "Feng shui, once considered a New Age fad, is now being embraced by big business and bureaucrats," says Time magazine.

Wong attended Tech (class of 1968) where she established Chi Delta Alpha, the women's service sorority. She was also the first minority editor of The Bugle, Tech's yearbook. She is currently active in the Rotary Club in Los Angeles, Cal., as well as the Chinese Historical Society. Wong attributes her success to Virginia Tech and the legacy of the university's motto, "Ut Prosim" - "That I May Serve."

Wong has served on the faculty of several colleges and universities, and has won many awards, including Entrepreneur of the Year from Inc. Magazine. The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) also honored her as one of the Outstanding L.A. Business Women of the Year.

Most recently, Wong's success comes from her new book, Feng Shui: Do's and Taboos. Wong has recently appeared on shows such as Regis and Kelly and Oprah to promote her book and to talk about the principles of this growing trend. She has also been featured in publications such as USA Today, Time Magazine and The New York Times. Wong's clients include 65 real estate developers, as well as corporations such as Universal Studios and Coty Beauty.
