Reza Barkhi
BLACKSBURG, Va., Sept. 20, 2010 – Reza Barkhi, associate professor of accounting and information systems in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, was recently appointed the PricewaterhouseCoopers Junior Faculty Fellow of Accounting and Information Systems by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers Junior Faculty Fellowship of Accounting and Information Systems was established through gifts from alumni and friends employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers and by the PricewaterhouseCoopers Foundation to support outstanding faculty in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. The fellowship appointment is for five years.
Barkhi joined the Pamplin faculty in 1997 and was promoted to associate professor in 2002. From 2006 to 2009, he was on leave from Virginia Tech to serve as management information systems department head at American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Barkhi has published 35 peer-reviewed journal articles and four book chapters, and he has made more than 30 presentations at information systems meetings. He has five papers currently under review and seven additional research projects at various stages of completion.
He has served on 21 Ph.D. committees, 14 of which have been outside his department. He has taught a variety of departmental course at the graduate and undergraduate level.
Barkhi received his bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees, and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
