2005 Orange, Maroon Effect T-shirts now available

BLACKSBURG, Va., July 15, 2005 – The Student Government Association’s 2005 Orange and Maroon Effect T-shirts are officially on sale.

This year’s Orange Effect slogan, “Who needs a Benz when you've got a BEAMER,” was designed to bring Hokie fans of all ages together to support the Virginia Tech football team and ACC Football coach of the Year, Frank Beamer.

The official “Orange Effect” weekend will begin on Friday, Sept. 22, and run through Sunday, Sept. 24. On game day, fans are encouraged to wear the 2005 Orange Effect T-shirt to show their Virginia Tech pride. During the Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech game, Lane Stadium will be a sea of orange-outfitted fans chanting "Let's GO, HOKIES" as the Hokie football team and coach Frank Beamer lead the university to another victory.

In addition to Orange Effect, the SGA will sponsor Maroon Effect for the Miami football game on Nov. 5. All fans are encouraged to wear the new long-sleeve Maroon Effect T-shirts to the game. The Maroon Effect shirts sport an inaudible-audible slogan.

The SGA is working collaboratively with the Alumni Association, Hokie Club, and other various Virginia Tech organizations and departments to fill the stands with this year’s T-shirts, displaying the newly designed slogans and multi-colored fronts.

The Orange and Maroon Effect T-shirts will be available to all incoming freshmen during freshmen orientation during the month of July. The student body will be able to purchase their T-shirts following the start of the fall semester beginning Aug. 30 at various locations across campus. In addition, faculty, staff, and alumni will have the opportunity to purchase their T-shirts online. Orange Effect shirts are $5 for youth and adult sizes (S-XXL) and Maroon Effect shirts are $8. Shirts can be purchased as a package for $10. Please visit the website to have Orange and Maroon Effect shirts directly mailed.
