BLACKSBURG, Va., March 14, 2006 – This spring, eight artists are showing their works in the Office of the Vice President for Research at Virginia Tech. The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, March 24, from noon until 2 p.m., to meet the artists as well as view the works.
Of the eight artists whose works are on display, six are Virginia Tech students: Klaus Shmidheiser of Fishersville, Va., a senior majoring in graphic design; Simone Monet Smith of Clarksville, Va., a fine arts junior whose concentration is studio art; Yener Kutluay of Ankara Turkey, an electrical engineering senior; Roo Vandergrift of Blacksburg, who is majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry and psychology; Thomas Eicholtz of LaPlata, Md., a senior majoring in studio art; and Sait Yilmaz of Istanbul, Turkey, a senior majoring in graphic design. Also displaying their work are Eric Standley of Blacksburg, assistant professor of art at Virginia Tech, and recent Virginia Commonwealth University graduate Sarah Margaret Everton of Midlothian, Va., whose major was painting and printmaking.
This semester's show was organized by fine arts major Elizabeth Pacentrilli of Woodbridge, Va. The art is will be on display in 301 Burruss Hall, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is invited to visit. For additional information please call (540) 231-6077.
