Northern Virginia Engineering to hold open house April 20

NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION, April 11, 2005 – Virginia Tech’s Northern Virginia Engineering (NVE) will host its annual Graduate Programs Open House Wednesday, April 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Northern Virginia Center located at 7054 Haycock Road, Falls Church. The event is free and open to the public.

Northern Virginia Engineering faculty will present information on the four engineering departments in the Northern Capital Region: Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Also showcased will be the new graduate programs in Information Assurance. The National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have designated Virginia Tech as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education for academic years 2005-2008. This designation recognizes Virginia Tech as one of a select group of universities across the United States that play a key role in educating professionals to reduce vulnerabilities and protect America’s cyberspace.
