Business Horizons career fair
BLACKSBURG, Va., Sept. 8, 2008 – A total of 160 employers have signed up to attend the 26th annual Business Horizons career fair of Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Squires Student Center Commonwealth and Old Dominion ballrooms.
The career fair, organized annually by Pamplin undergraduates, is sold out, said Gary Kinder, Pamplin’s career services director for undergraduate programs. More than 600 recruiters have registered to attend, including representatives from 63 companies that are first-time participants in Business Horizons.
The fair gives Pamplin students and recruiters a good opportunity to meet and interact with each other in an informal setting, Kinder said. “Many employers who attend Business Horizons return to campus later to conduct interviews for new hire and internship positions.”
To make the most effective use of the fair, students have been advised to prepare by doing research on the companies at the Business Horizons website. Students can find out which majors are in demand at various companies and learn more about each company in general, Kinder said. The site also provides pointers on getting resumes to recruiters, dressing appropriately for the event, and registering for on-campus interviews.
