BLACKSBURG, Va., Oct. 20, 2009 – In honor of the families of all Virginia Tech students visiting campus for Family Day, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets will have a formal review on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. on the Drillfield. It will be centered on Burruss Hall.
The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets welcomes University President Charles W. Steger who will be speaking during the parade. In addition, the Highty Tighties, the Regimental Band, will play and Skipper, the corps cannon, will be fired when the cadets first enter the Drillfield, at the first note of the National Anthem, and the first note of Tech Triumph. There will be three shots total, the first shot will be at approximately 10:50 a.m. and the final shot will be at about 11:45 p.m.
Family Day is especially significant for freshman cadets as their busy academic and training schedules often preclude them from going home and this is the first opportunity for many since arriving for New Cadet Week in mid-August to visit and share their campus experience with family.
Everyone is welcome to come out and watch this event.
Free parking is available around the Drillfield and no pass is necessary on weekends. Parking is also available in Perry Street Lot 1, 3, 4 and 6 near Prices Fork Road. Find more parking information online or call (540) 231-3200.
