This is a resubmission. As per reviewer comments, I have corrected the order of the front matter. Since Acrobat would not open the GIF files produced with the unix xv
application, I opened them with Graphic Converter and saved them again as GIF files.
My Acrobat now uses the links to open these files properly.

Pages for figures are numbered to interleave with text figures, so 
page numbers in the body skip to allow for figures. Figure pages 
are of screen dumps, originally captured using a unix utility. 
Captions and page numbers were added with TeX and dvips. The image 
was then grabbed into xv to produce gifs. The results are not very 
attractive, since much image detail is eliminated. (This is also 
true for JPEG; I tried both.) I hope that, in the future, you will 
allow PostScript files for images, since the quality of my 
presentation would certainly be better in that case.
