Artists invited to exhibit art for consideration in new building

BLACKSBURG, Va., Feb. 7, 2007 – An art exhibition will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, to purchase art for Virginia Tech's new Life Sciences I building, which is currently under construction on Washington Street. The show will be from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Torgersen Hall Bridge at Virginia Tech.

The “Life Sciences” theme of the exhibition, is geared toward, but not limited to, aspects of molecular and microbiology, including representations and interpretations of living structures and scientific methods. Art may include two-dimensional (2-D) works, up to but no larger than 48 -inches by 48-inches, including drawings, photos, prints, paintings, ceramic, metals, textile, or mixed media.

Virginia Tech students, faculty, and alumni may register to show their work. Art must be delivered between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Feb. 24 in a format ready to be displayed on an easel. Between three and 15 purchase awards will be made, and those announcements will begin 3:30 p.m.
