With a background in student affairs, academic advising, wellness, technology, and communications, Eric focuses his energies on educating clients and captivating audiences. As the Student Affairs and Technology blogger for Inside Higher Ed, he generates conversations, answers questions, and provides insight about a variety of “tech topics.”
- Can VT Pride it Forward? What if Queer never happens here?Matheis, Christian (2013-12-17)How will we tell the story of LGBTQA people at VT in ten, fifteen, or twenty years? Since the 1990’s, if not earlier, public universities around the country have gone through various queer pride and affirmation movements. Sometimes highly celebratory, sometimes political, sometimes contentious, sometimes planned and sometimes unexpected, these movements have brought important and powerful changes to educational institutions. In this event involving storytelling and questions about our past and future, we will discuss the possibilities for creating the kind of educational community that not only welcomes people who are LGBTQA, but makes it possible for them to consider VT a top choice.
- Dining Services Farm 2014 Annual ReportHessler, Alex; Carver, Rial (Virginia Tech, 2014)The Dining Services Farm (DSF) is a collaboration between Virginia Tech Dining Services, The Department of Horticulture, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). The DSF began in 2009 as a small garden at Kentland Research Farm to provide experiential learning opportunities for students in the Civic Agriculture and Food Systems Minor and grow fresh produce for Dining Services. The mission of the DSF is to promote sustainable agricultural practices and community food systems by serving as a resource for education, research, and outreach for Virginia Tech and the Blacksburg Community.
