Abstract

This shot tower, located in Austinville, VA is in the Shot Tower and New River Trail State Park. It was built by Thomas Jackson, an English immigrant in 1807. The small, spherical lead shot was used by frontier settlers. The shot tower is an ASME Mechanical Engineering Landmark.
