For this project, our goal was to collect relevant ocean data as well as automate the collection of future ocean data in order to help our client with his research of studying the effects of climate change on the features of the ocean and the likely effects on human health and biodiversity. By looking at relevant ocean data such as surface temperature as well as surface salinity, our client can draw conclusions on the behavior of pathogens that could lead to disease. For this semester, our goal is to build a database consisting of surface temperature and surface salinity dating as far back as 1900 that our client can access. In addition, we have built a script that our client can run in order to input new data into the database when it is released.
