dc.description.abstractThe optical dielectric function for polyacetylene has been calculated in the random-phase approximation. Local-field corrections are included. The optical-absorption coefficient obtained is in good agreement with experimental data. The contributions of interchain coupling and exchange interaction are discussed.en
