Abstract
This paper examines the sustainability of current cropping systems as well as impacts on human and environmental health in a county representative of one of China's most productive agricultural areas. The authors synthesize the results of surveys from 270 farm households, soil sampling, and groundwater monitoring and compare the inputs and outputs of farmers who do and do not follow recommended practices.
