On-farm productivity of relay-cropped Mucuna and Lablab in smallholder crop-livestock systems in northwestern Kenya
MetadataShow full item record
Using legumes as green manures may help increase soil fertility and the quality of livestock feeds in northwestern Kenya. This study examines relay-cropped mucuna and lablab as alternatives to fallowing in a maize-common bean intercrop system. The maize grain yield was greater after planting mucuna than lablab even when some of the fodder is used as livestock feed.
