    Abstract
The author argues that Ecofeminist and Women, Environment, Development arguments fall short in that they start with the assumption that women have a unique connection to the environment and thus they do not account for the multiple roles of women across varying social and economic structures that determine how they relate to the environment. Women cannot be taken as a unified category, and thus there cannot be a universal assumption that women relate as a whole in a different way than men do to the environment.
