Abstract

The dynamics of extension are changing; it is expected to broaden its agenda to include supporting market linkages, support environmental conservation, and enhance the voice of the poor. However, it continues to be supported and evaluated based on the framework of linear technology dissemination. This presentation argues that the Innovation systems platform (ISP) can fill the need for a framework that is better adjusted to the actors, institutions, and other dynamics which shape its context, and demonstrates that ISP offers a shift to a more interactive and relevant role of extension.
