This report by the SACRED Africa, or Sustainable Agriculture Center for Research and Development, describes the activities conducted by the collaborative partnership between SACRED Africa and the Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources Management Collaborative Research Support Program in 2010 and 2011. It describes the survey used to define the traditional farming system, and the experiments conducted to evaluate the performance of conservation agriculture production systems compared to traditional systems. Lessons learned from this first season research are shared.
