Awarded Professor Emeritus in 2011, Dr. Mark Sanders has been a member of the Virginia Tech community since 1980; lastly as a professor of teaching and learning in the School of Education in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. A leader in Integrative STEM Education, which he defines as "technological / engineering design-based learning approaches that intentionally integrate content and process of science and/or mathematics education with content and process of technology and/or engineering education. Integrative STEM education may be enhanced through further integration with other school subjects, such as language arts, social studies, art, etc."


Inducted in March 2012 into the ITEEA Academy of Fellows, the highest recognition that the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association bestows. Conferred Professor Emeritus 2011.
