Awarded Professor Emeritus in 2011, Dr. Mark Sanders has been a member of the Virginia Tech faculty since 1980; lastly as full professor and Program Leader of the Integrative STEM Education Graduate Program at Virginia Tech, which he envisioned in 2003 and co-founded in 2005. A leader in integrative STEM education, which he defines “as instructional approaches that intentionally situate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics teaching and learning in the context of technological / engineering design activity, Dr. Sanders continues to advise PhD students and pursue integrative STEM education-related scholarly activities. In 2012, he was inducted into the ITEEA Academy of Fellows, the highest recognition bestowed by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association.
