King Midas and the Money Touch

Abstract

King Midas is known in myths and legends as the king who wished that all he touched might become gold. Modern humans are just as greedy as King Midas. In their efforts to make a bigger profit, they are destroying the biosphere, which is the source of renewable resources that are the basis of the human economy. By exploiting their natural resource base instead of nurturing it, societies are essentially choosing to fail.
