BLACKSBURG, Va., Aug. 4, 2006 – One of Virginia Tech's two rare Amorphophallus titanum, or "corpse plants" has bloomed in the university’s biological sciences greenhouse.
The plant gets its nickname from the intensely powerful stench it emits for the first few hours after it blooms.
The greenhouse will be open for visitors during the following hours:
Friday, August 4: Until 11 p.m.
Saturday, August 5: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, August 6: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
