Parametric excitations of linear systems having many degrees of freedom. Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 62(2), 375-381. doi: 10.1121/1.3815350001-4966http://hdl.handle.net/10919/52715The method of multiple scales is used to analyze parametrically excited, linear systems having many degrees of freedom and distinct natural frequencies. Explicit second-order expressions are obtained for the characteristic exponents which yield the transition curves. Various combination resonances are treated. The results are applied to the buckling of free-clamped columns under the influence of sinusoidally varying axial loads.7 pagesapplication/pdfen-USIn CopyrightBucklingFrequency analyzersParametric excitations of linear systems having many degrees of freedomArticle - Refereedhttp://scitation.aip.org/content/asa/journal/jasa/62/2/10.1121/1.381535Journal of the Acoustical Society of Americahttps://doi.org/10.1121/1.381535
