Throughout 2009-2010, participants in Mali, Ghana, Uganda, Philippines,Ecuador, and Kenya were asked information necessary to create a local map, including soil type and quality. In most countries, this information was also gendered to illustrate the differences in knowledge and access between men and women. Recommendations for future research featured the inclusion of GIS, soil samples, and enthnographer-farmer collaboration.application/pdfen-USIn CopyrightParticipatory processesGenderLocal knowledgeSoil qualityEthnopedologyGendered knowledgeGeographyFarm/Enterprise Scale Field ScaleSpace and place through soil: Participatory mapping, ethnopedology, and the importance of local & gendered knowledgePoster
