Our presentation uses the obstruction theory definition Chern characteristic classes in order to emphasize the connections with the even-degree component (see Theorem 4.3.1) and leads to a natural justification of the fundamental property of the Chern character, i.e. of being a ring homomorphism. The reader is assumed to have some background in topological Δ-theory and algebraic topology.iv, 56 leavesBTDapplication/pdfenIn Copyrightk-theoryLD5655.V855 1995.D865The odd chern character and obstruction theoryThesishttp://scholar.lib.vt.edu/theses/available/etd-05092009-040330/
