The use of heterodyning leads to phase-preserving, which is the basic idea of holography. While heterodyning has numerous advantages, it requires complicated and expensive electronic processing. We investigate an off-axis approach to OSH, thereby eliminating the use of heterodyning for phase retrieval. We develop optical scanning theory for holographic imaging and show that by properly designing the scanning beam, we can performcoherent and incoherent holographic recording. Simulation results are provided to verify the proposed idea.Pages A44-A518 page(s)application/pdfenIn CopyrightOptics0205 Optical Physics0906 Electrical and Electronic Engineering1113 Opthalmology and OptometryOpticsOff-axis optical scanning holography [Invited]Article - Refereed2022-02-15Journal of the Optical Society of America A -Optics Image Science and Visionhttps://doi.org/10.1364/JOSAA.444745392Poon, Ting Chung [0000-0002-7070-6856]1520-8532
