The control system settings are optimized relative to two different cost criteria, both of which penalize the inadvertent interchange of energy between the two areas. The problem is studied for several different total megawatt ratings of area two and for several different static tie line transmission capacities. Search techniques employing a hybrid computer are used to solve the optimization problem. Two different search techniques are used. One is based upon the Fibonacci search method, and the other is a direct search method. The optimum control settings are compared with industry recommended standards.viii, 88 leavesapplication/pdfenIn CopyrightLD5655.V855 1974.B76A hybrid computer parameter optimization study of the two-area load frequency control problem \Thesis
