Adequate bicycle parking encourages people to ride, presents a more orderly appearance for buildings, prevents damage to trees and street furniture, and keeps bicycles from falling over and blocking the sidewalk. Most importantly, bicycle parking helps legitimize cycling as a viable transportation mode by providing parking opportunities equal to motorized modes. Therefore, it is the university’s ultimate desire to utilize the information in the Bicycle Parking Master Plan to determine size and location of additional bicycle parking areas to meet both short-term and long-term parking needs of campus cyclists.52 pagesapplication/pdfen-USIn CopyrightVirginia Tech Bike Parking Plan, Spring 2014Bookhttps://www.facilities.vt.edu/content/dam/facilities_vt_edu/master-plan/bicycle-master-plan/bicycleparkingplan2014.pdf
