Biegler, Mark Warren2017-11-092017-11-091988http://hdl.handle.net/10919/80145Several experimental methods are examined for stress concentration factor determination. Tests are performed on a chosen 2-D specimen using strain gages, brittle coating, brittle specimen failure, photoelasticity, and Moire interferometry. Results are compared to each other and to finite element analysis performed on the same geometry. Strain gaging and photoelasticity were chosen as the best methods for stress concentration factor determination.viii, 85 leavesapplication/pdfen-USIn CopyrightLD5655.V855 1988.B533Fracture mechanicsMaterials -- FatigueStress concentrationDetermination of stress concentration factors using experimental methodsThesis
