College of Engineering, 2012)HokieSpeed, the new super computer from Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering, debuted in December 2011 under the guidance of Wu Feng, associate professor with the computer science and electrical and computer engineering departments. He said HokieSpeed was Virginia Tech’s latest war horse in the research arena. “This instrument will empower faculty, students, and staff across disciplines to tackle problems previously viewed as intractable or that required heroic efforts and significant domain-specific expertise to solve.”

College of Engineering, 2013)College of Engineering researchers are continuing to work on a multi-university, nationwide project for the U.S. Navy that one day will put life-like autonomous robot jellyfish in waters around the world. Several sizes of the RoboJelly are under various phases of development, some the size of a man’s hand, while another – publicly debuted in spring 2013 – is more than five-foot wide.
