The first part focuses on understanding the disease- the basics, the risks, vulnerabilities to the impacts, HIV and the community. Part 2- Responses of extension works based on community dialogue to identify impacts of HIV in the community, and reflection on the findings. Part 3- Is a reflection on the opportunities that extension workers have to address HIV/AIDS through agriculture and natural resources. The guide ends with some tools, tables, and examples of templates to help extension workers in the process.

However, its suitability for use by vulnerable households in sub-Saharan Africa has yet to be examined from technical, economic and social perspectives. Its adoption requires a significant change in farming practices and the use of specialist equipment, as well as a fundamental change in mindset towards cultivation practices.
