The CyberArts Showcase, an innovative, virtual art museum of student works that uses technology to create inventive, interactive worlds of digital art, will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at Torgersen Hall on Virginia Tech's campus. Roberto Bocci, multimedia artist and professor of digital art at Georgetown University will open the event.
- Frank Weiner wins first place in the competition for EAAE Prize 2003 - 2005Watson-Bloch, Cathy (Virginia Tech. University Relations, 2005-03-16)Frank H. Weiner, associate professor in the School of Architecture + Design has won the European Association for Architectural Education Prize 2003 -- 2005. A biennial international competition on the subject of architectural education, the EAAE Prize was first awarded in 1991, "with the aim to stimulate original writings on the subject of architectural education in order to improve the quality of architectural education in Europe."
- Gary Wamsley honored with emeritus statusWatson-Bloch, Cathy (Virginia Tech. University Relations, 2005-03-14)Gary L. Wamsley, of Blacksburg, professor of public administration in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech, was conferred with the title "Professor Emeritus" by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors during the board's quarterly meeting Monday, March 14.
- Industrial Design Program students complete Interdesign workshop in South AfricaWatson-Bloch, Cathy (Virginia Tech. University Relations, 2005-05-26)Students from Virginia Tech's Industrial Design Program, in the School of Architecture + Design completed a two week workshop in South Africa, taking part in Interdesign 2005. The students were one of only three student groups selected to participate in an international program for mid-career design professionals, that this year explored the design of sustainable transportation in rural South Africa.
- Industrial Design Program to present work at the International Contemporary Furniture FairWatson-Bloch, Cathy (Virginia Tech. University Relations, 2005-05-10)Virginia Tech's Industrial Design Program, part of the School of Architecture + Design has been selected to present their work at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Javits Center in New York May 14-17. Virginia Tech and five other schools were winners of the ICFF Design School competition and the winning work will be exhibited at the fair.
- Institute for Policy Outreach works to ensure safe and reliable sources of waterWatson-Bloch, Cathy (Virginia Tech. University Relations, 2005-05-09)Virginia Tech's Institute for Policy Outreach (IPO) is continuing a partnership with the New River Valley Development Corporation to develop a New River Valley Regional Water Authority. The Regional Water Authority will help meet the region's ongoing water supply needs in case of drought and shortages brought on by the contamination of traditional water sources. The project is currently evaluating the combination of eight separate local water systems into one comprehensive authority.

Four finalists were selected in the Student Project category and two of those winners were Virginia Tech interior design students.

Winners were selected at the International IDEC Conference in Savannah, Ga. with Virginia Tech Interior Design students winning second place and honorable mention.

Symposium events also include a two-day Rain Garden Workshop, lectures from landscape architecture professionals, a career fair, and workshops that include portfolio reviews.
