US Hotels Expand Homeless Programs During Pandemic

Abstract

Major hotel chains like Hilton, Marriott and InterContinental Hotels have entered agreements with FEMA and local and state authorities to house some of the most vulnerable population to Covid-19 by working with local shelters to house the homeless population. Of concern have been the changes in hotel operations regarding the change in clientele and the expectation that major costs may be involved after the programs end due to renovation costs associated with these temporary conditions.
