Abstract

Explains how riparian forests protect water quality, the factors that can affect the ability of the riparian forest to remove pollutants from runoff, situations in which they will have the most and least influence on water quality, and how riparian forest design can be altered using best management practices to optimize effectiveness with an additional section specifically on this issue in Virginia.
