Abstract

Results from studies in Asia and the Pacific sponsored by the International Board for Soil Research and Management (IBSRAM) are summarized. Soil loss data are presented as well as comments on the effectiveness of hedgerow systems in terms of economics and soil conservation. References pointing to additional IBSRAM data are provided. Labor is listed as a potentially major obstacle to adoption of agroforestry systems. The authors emphasize the importance of involving farmers in future research efforts.
