The document is a synthesis of December 1996 work on the evolution of the management of pastoral conflicts. The document presents results of studies of the cases of Senegal, Niger, and Mali from a preceding workshop, the proposition or the organization of communities for the equitable utilization of resources, the new state measures (real estate legislation) and the ways of preventing and resolving conflicts between rural communities.
