Remote sensing and GIS application in coastal zone management: A case study of Ghana
Abstract
This presentation provides background on the historical significance of coastal ecosystems and current natural and human-caused threats. A study was undertaken to use Landsat TM and ETM+ images to detect land degradation along the east coast of Ghana and create an information database to assist in the effective planning and management of resources along the coast of Ghana. The presentation concludes with recommendations for the application of remote sensing and GIS data to coastal policy formation.
