    Abstract
This manual offers a variety of innovative tools for facilitators from local communities, NGOs and public sector agencies to empower those who are frequently neglected in the decision-making processes to achieve community change. The book focuses on participatory approaches to development and how differences in class, ethnicity, race, caste, religion, age, and status with particular interest in gender issues prevent the disadvantaged and disempowered from inclusion. The integration of applied and analytical methods combined with examples from field experience explore how multi-media tools can strengthen the impact of the other tools in consciousness-raising, data-gathering, advocacy, and community decision-making and action.
