dc.description.abstract	The Virginia Center for Coal and Energy Research is pleased to produce the 1998 edition of its annual Directory, Virginia Coal. This is one of the prime sources of statistics on Virginia coal production, mining methods and sales. Over the years, our Directories have tracked the performance and production of fuel source companies in Virginia. Despite the increasing accessibility of our data banks through our developing web site,¹ the hardcopy form of the Directory remains in demand. The statistics reported in Virginia Coal are derived from a number of sources including, and particularly, the State Division of Mines, Minerals and Energy.	en
