| dc.description.abstract | This presentation is an in-depth discussion of microirrigation systems. Microirrigation is the method of delivery of water at low flow rates through various types of water applicators by a distribution system located on the soil surface or suspended above the ground. Water is applied as drops, tiny streams or spray, through emitters, sprayers or porous tubing. The presentation covers the characteristics of this method, advantages and disadvantages of the system, as well as the different types of systems available, components, design and management issues surrounding the system. The presentation also includes a section on subsurface drip irrigation and its disadvantages, some advantages and disadvantages of low-head drip, and calculations of water storage and requirements. | en |
