The guide addresses some major issues related to the agronomic management of plant nutrients in an attempt to ensure both enhanced and sustainable agricultural production and to safeguard the environment. In this context, the guide proposes the adoption of Integrated Plant Nutrition Systems (IPNS) which enhance soil productivity through a balanced use of local and external sources of plant nutrients in a way that maintains or improves soil fertility and is environmentally-friendly. The guide also emphasizes the need for national policies facilitating the development of sound plant nutrition management and the investments needed to intensify production while conserving the natural resource base.en
