Nepal: Training a new generation of conservation leaders

Abstract

This presentation discusses the establishment of a memorial center for continuing education of natural resource and forestry scholars at the Institute of Forestry in Nepal. Created in honor of 32 individuals that perished in a helicopter crash on return from the inauguration of a community forestry park, the center is designed to allow academics to develop a center of excellence in forestry education. Opportunities to be offered by the Center for Excellence include faculty exchanges between United States and Nepal to create collaborative research.
